Kapunda and Eudunda Medical Practices have seven permanent GPs, up to three registrars, an intern, and three third year medical students through the Flinders University MD Rural Stream (MDRS) this sees students with us for 12 months at a time.
Branches
Our branch practices are at:
25a Bruce Street, Eudunda
Allied Health
The Kapunda Medical Practice Allied Health Centre has a mix of visiting allied health including SA Pathology, Comfort Steps Podiatry, Barossa Dental, Physioactive Physiotherapy, Ron Kendall Audiology, Lee Johnson Dietician, Sonder Mental Health Nurse.
Rooms are available for providers to rent either by sessions / days or permanently. Please contact practice manager, Sandra Merkx for further details.
Accreditation
Our practices are accredited with Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL).
Accreditation is voluntary however our practice views it as portraying a message of “quality in practice” and a commitment to continuing improvement in Australian General Practice.
Both practices have a strong teaching focus and we have two or three general practice registrars with us each year. There is also an intern rotating every 10 weeks from the Lyall McEwin Hospital on placement with us.
This scheme has been an enormous success, and favourably viewed by patients, interns and the practice alike. The interns practice under close supervision of practice doctors, and are involved in all aspects of practice work both general practice and hospital based.
Three Flinders University Medical Students are placed with the practice for their entire third year (of a four year postgraduate course) under the MD Rural Stream (MDRS). This is a well established program that is already operating in three other regions of South Australia. Three students are allocated to our practice for 12 months, and would also be immersed in the clinical life of the practice for the duration.
Doctors
Our doctors are supported by professional and experienced administrative staff and equipment at all times in each location. Currently we have a practice manager, an office manager, twelve receptionists in addition to the ten practice nurses and two mental health nurses. Two of our doctors are obstetricians and deliver babies at the local Kapunda Hospital, another two doctors are anaesthetists and do anaesthetics at the local Kapunda Hosptial for visiting specialists.
Appointments
Appointments can be made in advance by phone or in person. Please notify the receptionist if the appointment is urgent or if a longer appointment is required. Normally appointments are made at 15 minute intervals however
it is necessary to take into account that unexpected emergencies may affect your waiting times.
